ICF-ACC COACHING SKILLS TRAINING
Last January 11-16 2009, twenty two PSI Graduates came to PSI Seminar Room at Unit 604 Metropolitan Terraces, Metropolitan Avenue, Makati to attend the ICF - ACC (International Coach Federation - Associate Certified Coach) Coaching Skills Accreditation Training.
The Training was facilitated by Peter Hawe, who is highly experienced, and accredited coach trainer. He is a graduate of Coach University and an American Management Association Trainer who operates a successful global coaching practice. This face to face training is aligned with the portfolio accreditation requirements of the International Coach Federation, one of the many reasons why most PSI graduates who are in different training fields did not pass up this rare opportunity.
After six days however, not only do we get the 60 hours training that ICF requires, we also learned from each other, as Peter masterfully facilitated the whole class, coming half the time from his vast practical experience.
The soon to be ICF-ACC Coaches are: Alice Serna; Aries Tapay; Bjorn Martinoff; Cherry Ri; Dindin Mangasin; Edwin Ebreo; Gerry Sy; Greg Forbes; Jane Alexandra Mata; Jerry Perez de Tagle; Jolinne Pamatmat; Marilyn Abella; Marvin Macatol; Miriam Quiambao; Nel Herrera; Nino Tchoi; Raju Mandhyan; Ritchie Chan; Santi Umali; Scott Dowd; Vicki Martinoff and Yam Gruet.

WE DID IT AGAIN! - PSI OUTREACH 2008
We did it again on our 7th year with the Missionary Sisters of Charity.More than 850 children ages 9-10 years old went home with big smiles on their faces as they try to carry the loot bags heavy with goods for Christmas.
They were entertained by Mimmo Tapiador the PSI magician (09179440427), who came with his wife Cristina. Breakfast was provided by PSI members of Think Rich Pinoy headed by Larry Gamboa. On hand to distribute were Thea Santos and Gia Garcia. Among those present to distribute the goods were: Martin and Shiela Galvez together with children Isabel, Joshua and Joseph. Joy Mangubat who has always been present in our yearly distribution came with friends. Weng and Aque, Joie Sales and Darius Bigtas were also present to lend a hand. Fish Florencio of Accenture came with officemates Lito Pamaran, Gwen de Guzman, May del Pilar, Adrian Lacerna, Arnie Bernardo and Raizel Corcuera. Ed Abella, a big contributor to our program came with Raquel Romero and her son. Our energetic packer Nomer Santos also came with Hanna Rodinas, Dean Monares, Santio and Lili Umali. We are also joined by the first timers Mare and Sally Abella, Andrea Lee, Nuel Manaligod, Beth Palacios, and Carla Tamayo. Never to be outdone are PSI staff made up of Arthur Grandeza, Nitnit Wong and Camille Martinez.
The 900 loot bags were packed by the Great PACKERS like Sharon Que, Nomer Santos, Marilyn Sim, Hanna Rodinas, Noreen Arrojado, Gjay Martinez, Fish Florencio, Nitnit Wong, Arthur Grandeza, Jane Mata, Camille Martinez, and Vickie Vicente with alalays Gani, Delsie and Jo.

The Mastermind Principle
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.

The To Think is to Create concept was seriously explored in the first run of PSI’s Contuing Education entitled “The Mastermind Principle.”
The Mastermind Principle is based on an ancient premise that the combined energies of two or more like-minded individuals is many times greater than the sum total of the individual energies involved. The Mastermind Principle also teaches that other like-minded idividuals can believe and accept as true things which we find hard to conceive and believe for ourselves.
Napoleon Hill is credited with coining the phrase 'Master Mind' (more commonly, Mastermind). The 'Master Mind' may be defined as: “coordination of knowledge and effort in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.” In Think and Grow Rich, Hill discusses his creation of Master Mind groups and how these groups could multiply an individual's brain power and continually motivate positive emotions. However, the Master Mind was a deeper and more powerful connection than mere synergetic cooperation would suggest, and requires an understanding of Hill's belief's about the brain and the nature of energy (particularly thought energy) within Thomas Edison's cosmological understanding of matter and energy. In describing the Philosophy of Achievement, Hill was careful in his writings to examine the brain as a sending/receiving station for thought; and for the first time in history explained to the world that like-mindedness had a physical basis. Hence the Master Mind, governed by the laws of mutual attraction, could only exist if like-mindedness was achieved between individuals. Scientists had only recently (in Hill's time) shown that the brain was the true source of thought, and hence like-mindedness could now have a true physical underpinning from the point of view of science. Last August 14, PSI graduates gathered at the PSI Seminar hall to listen to the story of one successful Mastermind (MM) Group – that of Lourdes de Luna, Don Esguerra and Sharon Que. Their MM Group started last February 25 2007 and it is still going strong up to now.

Team 72 - Going Beyond Limits
The 72nd team of Starshooters ended their 90 day journey last November 9, 2008.
It was a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time for them during showtime and afterwards seeing a deeper purpose for their goals on their 3rd intensive.
Archer Aries Tapay experienced 'Ohana; Shining Star Tara Verzosa celebrated creativity and love with her 5 delectable chocolate variants; Alwyn Lee showed the team how to win in personal and professional life by awakening his passion; Mares Si showed that to accomplish the things you truly want... believing in yourself is the key; Erich Rodinas experienced walking the talk inspite and despite of the obstacles; Monchot Ongsiako proved that he can conquer any goliath with his drive to be the best that he can be; Iron Man Manny dela Serna ran the extra mile for his team; Lhai Alberca became more confident by experiencing liberty; Tessie Bureros showed power over her obstacles by flying from Agusan and creating the abundance she deserve and Mr. Taipan, Eric Soriano brought his company, Philippine Autoclub, to greater heights by affirming the true value of what he does.
Mentoring and sometimes tormenting this team to reach their goals were their coaches: Jess Rodinas, Mare Abella, Nel Herrera, Anton Bautista, Ritchie Chan, Ruth Aseron and Sheryl Baladjay. Leading the coaches team was Jane Mata, and they were supported by the facilitators Alice Serna and Sonny Vicente.
This is Team 72 - The team that went Beyond their Limits to Know, Win and Become the Number 1 Thinker that they are now.

New Number 1 Thinkers - Team 71!!!
Last August 24, 2008, eleven individuals officially became number 1 Thinkers. These unbeatable players were Sally Abella, Let-let Bellosillo, Chino Felix, Richard Fernandez, Niña Narciso, Milan Santiago, Pam Santiago, Wen Sarmiento, Catherine Suelto, Alvin Tan and Allen Yu.
Throughout the 90 day journey, they were guided by their excellent and fun loving coaches: Red Molleda, Thea Santos, Noi Tchoi, Nitnit Wong and Vickie Vicente, who is also the Program Director of Starshooters. They were headed by the powerful and committed headcoach Mr. Sonny Vicente, who is also part of the facilitating team together with Alice Serna and the faci-in-training Ritchie Chan.
This team will face another journey, set new goals and are ready for another breakthrough. Good luck Team 71!

PSI Inc. to Launch PSI NGO

The board of PSI Inc. has approved the motion to seriously explore the putting up of a PSI NGO - Micro-financing Project. The said project will be a common vehicle for graduates to give back to the community.
The PSI NGO venturing into Microfinance is a brainchild of two of PSI’s respected facilitators, Kokoy Reonisto and Sonny Vicente. Both attended a seminar of Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip – the founder of the most successful micro-financing organizations in the Philippines. Dr. Alip is also the recipient of the 2008 Ramon Mgasaysay Award for founding an improved version of the Grameen Banking Approach founded by Dr. Yunus from Bangladesh.

Micro-financing is providing a broad range of financial services such as deposits, loans, payment services, money transfers and insurance products to the economically- challenged and low income households and other micro enterprises. These services however should NOT be mistaken as subsidized credit, a dole out, a salary / consumption loan NOR a cure to all poverty.
The clients of the project are the economically-active, entrepreneurial poor (e-poor) i.e. shopkeepers, ambulant vendors and household entrepreneurs. These are the clients who have stable economic activities and will be able to sustain and enhance them if only they are provided with even a small amount of readily available funds.
The details on the operation can best be provided on the general meeting of the investors in November where clarification and additional information will be provided.

Kokoy has observed that quite a number of PSI grads would like to give back or pay it forward because of the positive results they got in applying the learning from PSI seminars and programs. He thought that this can be an effective way of putting up a common vehicle for the graduates in pulling their resources (synergy) together to give or pay forward.
The board is now collating and researching the numbers and activities to be done to add flesh to Kokoy’s thought. One crucial activity is identifying the first batch of investors consisting of 100 PSI graduates who will be contributing P10,000 each which will be the initial seed money of the project.
When all details are squared away, the board will launch the project on November 22, 2008, Saturday 2pm at the PSI office. If you are interested please call Vickie Vicente at 8960938 / 8970900 / 09274322462.

PSI OUTREACH PROGRAM
Making children happy and loved has been our tradition for the past 7 years. Sr. John Vianney of the Missionary Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Tayuman, Tondo Manila is requesting us once more to take care of 900 children, ages 9-10 years old this Christmas season. These children are taking religion classes under the care of the Sisters.
We would like to open this opportunity to all PSI graduates who would like to make a difference in the lives of these children. We will pack all donations on Dec. 12 put them in goody bags and distribute them on Dec. 13, 8am at the grounds of the Old and Dying located in Tayuman, Tondo Manila. Many of our graduates have found joy in participating in the packing and distribution of these goods. Once again we invite you to join us again this year. What we are asking from you is not much. You can choose from ANY of the following items; 1 kilo of rice, 2 canned goods, 1 kilo of sugar, 1 pc of bath and laundry soap, 1 box of toothpaste, 2 pcs of noodles, 1 pack of biscuits, candies, 1 can of milk, 1 pack of juice, 1 tshirt or shorts. You can also donate cash since we also provide breakfast for them.

PSI KIDS BATCH 50
PSI KIDS Batch 50
It was a weekend of play, fun and learning as 27 little kids came excitedly to the PSI Kids Batch 50 last May 10-11 at Martha’s Vineyard, Amapola cor. Estrella St. Makati City. The golden batch was greeted with by their energetic “nannies” – the big kids – Tita Nel, Tita Jane, Tita Nit-nit, Tita Mare, Ate Nikita, Ate Jewel, Kuya Nuel, the chief of staff Tita Nice, and their “teacher” – Tito Kokoy.

The kids’ day started with some artwork, done with the help of their parents. Lots of activities filled the kids’ day! The big kids presented the small kids with skits which taught them the importance of balance, communication, agreements, commitment and unconditional love and understanding. They were animated with “the Boss and the Genie” which showed them how powerful thoughts are. They also met “Mandy and Pandy” who explained to them the importance of belief in oneself and the power of affirmation. Equally lovable were “Sunshine and Doogle” who gave them an idea of how to live their lives. The different games thrilled the children and at the same time encouraged them to love themselves. Even the breaks and lunchtime were purposeful as the big and small kids created their unique team name, their poster – another art work, and their cheers, which they presented during the graduation.

The youngest group came up with the longest name – “The Powerpuff Girls and the Power Rangers Mystic Force”, and they are composed of Chen Thor, Bryce Ong, Kaizen dela Cerna, Mariella Leyson, MM Manaligod, Ate Nikita and Tita Jane. The next team, “The Smart Group”, who showed the alphabet moves, were Benette Perdido, JB Tupal, Ishtar Barrameda, Puff Cardenas, Miggy Leyson, Miko Punzalan, Tita Nel and Tita Nit-nit. Next were the delicious group, “3C’s – Cookies and Cream, Cupcakes”, who showed how “yummy” life can be with their cheers, and they are Tigger Cardenas, Justine Macachor, Shannon See, Sarah Valdez, Caeo Tan, Betong Valdez, Kuya Nuel and Tita Mare. The “Rainbow” Group, composed of Lance Baclor, Jesame Bellosillo, Karina Valdez, Dap Baclor, Nikolas Bellosillo and Ate Jewel, colored the room with their short and inspiring poem. Last but definitely not the least was the “Low Fat, Low Sugar” group of Fiya Binalla, Ida Manga, Francis See, Pito Sevilla and Tita Nice. They shed the pounds off by giving a work-out session for everyone.

Team 70 coaches
Can anyone beat this?
Congratulations to the just concluded Starhooters Team 70! Our heartfelt thanks go to all the great coaches who spent almost 7 months of their lives together to make this Starshooters a success. They have been meeting once a week for almost four months preparing for the coaching program. This group of dedicated, committed and loving coaches was lead by a Head coach, Kate Lacson. With her were Ivy Lee, Fish Florencio, Lulu Dee, Noreen Arrojado, Jane Mata, Psalm Ronquillo and Santi Umali. The other three months of their lives were spent following up their players seeing to it that their goals are achieved. Ivy, Psalm, Lulu and Jane even went as far as Trento, Agusan del Sur just to conduct coffees for their players.

Watching and cheering for them was Kate who took them all, together with the players, under her wings for the duration of the program. Their equally proud players were: couples Anthony and Carol Thor, and Pao and Lani Bautista; Kay Tamayo who kindly gifted PSI with a new brochure; Pijai Calicdan, Celia Carlos, Mimmo Tapiador, Mare Abella, Vicki Martinoff, and Ruth Aseron; Mayor Nene Hitgano, her sister Gloria Samper, and her daughter Emy Rose -- who came all the way from Trento, Agusan del Sur. Great work Team 70!

Starshooters Team 70 - Wonderful Journey
It was a time for growth. Planting seeds of businesses, relationships and health. Moving from point A to point B. Committing to something bigger than themselves.
It was a team of travelers. From 3 team members making the trip from Mindanao to Luzon several times due to the program, a couple of business people flying international to achieve their goals, even the bonding time for some of the team members happened in Agusan, Davao, Eastwood and Tagaytay.
Although the program has ended, the learnings have not. Armed with new goals and a wealth of realizations, these new starshooters are playing in their game of life. As we say, once a starshooter, always a starshooter. Keep your eye out for these brilliant stars!

HEROIC CLASS XXVIII
The seven-day action-packed seminar was filled with life-changing experiences, powered by the inner reservoir of energy and vitality from the new eagles.
The group was welcomed by the staff (eagles) led by Erika Que, Staff Director and Vickie Vicente, Program Director. Other members of the staff include Kate Lacson, Ivy Lee, JP Prieto, Sharon Que, Jed Quiambao, Noreen Arrojado, Baby Bellosillo, Tristan Mirasol, Fish Florencio, Nelen Herrera and Arlene de Luna.
The group who said YES to be in hiatus for 7 days composed the Heroic Leadership Seminar Class XXVIII. They were presented with pride to Guru Kokoy Reonisto who led them to their “nests” nestled amidst luscious green mountains under the blue sky.
This conducive environment contributed to their quest to become effective leaders who focus attention to action and RESULTS.

A Rewarding Experience

It all started in December 2006 when the PSI grads of Baguio decided to hold their Christmas party in Joshua Children's Home. From then on, Xandra Cardenas (Basic 107, Starshooters Team 67, Heroic Class 28) became active in such events and soon discovered that just leaving donations at the doorstep was not enough for the kids. In visiting the orphanages, Xandra saw how the younger kids would cling onto her and would want to be hugged. They wanted someone they could talk to and listen to their heartaches. They needed someone to tell them kind words, to hear that they are beautiful and smart; and that they could be whatever they want to be. After a few minutes of being with them, their smiles are worth her time.
In her last visit to Bethesda Children's Home in January, she was joined by some PSI grads of Baguio and some Korean volunteers. They brought food and had a little chat with each of the kids. They asked them what they want to be in the future and gave them some advise. The childred expressed their gratitude with smiles and positive responses; but, in her opinion, she should be the one thanking these children. They have inspired her and have given her an opportunity to give unconditionally.
Xandra visits Bethesda every month. She encourages others to join her. Her volunteers are growing in number because, somehow, word had spread. More and more Koreans are joining too, and she gets many donations from overseas as well.
More than inspiring, it has truly been a rewarding experience for Xandra.
Reading Center for a Cause

It started as a desire; Plock-Lick Pavia (Basic 112, Starshooter 26, Heroic 6) simply wanted to do a reading session with kids. She asked neighbors for used children’s books to add on to the pile she had already collected from members of her extended family. One afternoon in the middle of April, she had brought out the books she had collected, sat under a big tree where three streets met where children usually come out to play. When the children saw she had different kinds of books in different shapes and sizes, they were readily enticed to browse through them. At the end of six weeks, there were 30 children and 15 volunteers actively participating in her project.
When summer ended, her problem was the storage of the piles of books she has collected. At this point she experienced several rejections and obstacles but her intention was clear. Applying the things she learned at PSI, she pushed through and in the end she was offered the entire second floor of the SB Building at Barangay Marilag as a site for a library. Another set of obstacles came, first she didn’t have any idea how to start a library and she has no funds for the shelf and the chairs. With a big room and a list of things she needs at hand she searched for the funds and in just two weeks she raised enough for the bookshelves. Finally on August 16, 2006 BMRC (Barangay Marilag Reading Center) was blessed and officially opened to the public.
Plock-lick also attracted a lot of volunteers. People came to her and asked how they can help. Volunteers do this because they are empowered. They get to experience a sense of leadership since they realized they have something to offer.
Plock-lick gave up her job to give her full time to this endeavor. Now, her goal is to raise funds for a summer youth camp to empower youth leaders and for a mobile library so she can reach out to other kids from different parts of Manila and the country.

From a Goal to a Purpose
“You put the most important things first, things close to your heart”
It all started as a Starshooters Goal. Glen Fernando’s (Basic 205, Starshooters 69) initial purpose was to break his scarcity mentality. To achieve this, he organized an outreach/feeding program for the children of RSCC (Reception and Study Center for Children). Of course he has to ask his friends, colleagues and even strangers for support and in the process he was able to conquer a lot of fear and get out of his comfort zone.
He organized this outreach, together with some friends last December 02, 2007 in time for the season of giving. At that point he realized that their greatest contribution to the children were not the foods and goods, but the time, companionship and care that they selflessly gave. He said that he was a changed man after that experience and when I asked him how he felt after, he simply said “Paggising ko kinabukasan, nakahiga lang ako at nakasmile lang and napipicture ko ang mukha ng mga bata na nakatawa.”
It all started as a Starshooters Goal. Glen Fernando’s (Basic 205, Starshooters 69) initial purpose was to break his scarcity mentality. To achieve this, he organized an outreach/feeding program for the children of RSCC (Reception and Study Center for Children). Of course he has to ask his friends, colleagues and even strangers for support and in the process he was able to conquer a lot of fear and get out of his comfort zone.
He organized this outreach, together with some friends last December 02, 2007 in time for the season of giving. Abundance in Giving
“The more you give, the more you feel abundant and the more you feel abundant, the more contented you get. Satisfaction lies in doing, not in having. Having is just a trophy.”
Marvin Macatol (Basic 204, Starshooters 64, Heroic 26) is a big guy with a big heart. He has been actively helping the homeless even before he joined PSI. As an active volunteer of Gawad Kalinga (GK) for two years, he, along with other volunteers has provided homes to a lot of people and has transformed the lives not only of those who were given houses, but them as well. Marvin is part of the caretaker team. His tasks include implementing the shelter component, defining the housing need, prepare the bill of materials, monitor budget and disbursements and supervise the foreman and volunteer.
Marvin is also a full time father, a businessman and an active volunteer of PSI. How does he find time… “I just decide what the most important thing to do is. I schedule my evening one or two weeks in advance and I delegate a lot. I visualize a lot – What I want to happen, I visualize. When you delegate something you cast a vision. Anyone you work with has to see the vision also.”
The price to pay: phone bill is high, but this is nothing to the sense of satisfaction he feels.
